Fishing Tourism in Catania: Boat Experience with Typical Lunch on Board

About This Experience
This trip puts you on a traditional wooden fishing boat with a family crew based in Catania, Sicily. Rather than just watching, guests take part in the fishing itself: hauling nets and lines and learning techniques the crew still uses day to day. Between fishing stops, the boat runs along the coast past hidden coves and volcanic rock, with a look at the Faraglioni sea stacks off Acitrezza. There's a stop to swim and snorkel in open water before the boat heads back to port.
Food is central to the experience. Once the fishing is done, the crew prepares a lunch built around whatever was caught that day, following traditional Sicilian recipes: seafood pasta, fried fish and seafood starters are typical, alongside a welcome aperitif of local wine and seafood bites. Still and sparkling water are kept on board throughout, along with a welcome cocktail and a glass of wine served with the meal.
The crew works in Italian, English, French and German, and the trip runs for about five and a half hours from the port of Catania. It suits couples, families and small groups who want a genuine look at Sicilian fishing life rather than a standard sightseeing cruise, and the operator says the format can be adjusted to suit the group booking.

We had an incredible time on this fishing excursion in Sicily. The crew was welcoming, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience feel effortless and fun. Our guide Leonardo shared with us history and folklore about the region which we really enjoyed! Catching fresh fish and then enjoying a beautifully prepared Sicilian lunch right on the water was unforgettable. Lunch was delicious — simple, fresh, and full of authentic Sicilian flavors. The hospitality was top notch! Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area.

When visiting Catania this trip is a must! This trip is so much more than just a fishing trip. Scenery of the coast, fantastic food (better than restaurants) cooked on board with fresh ingredients, opportunities for relaxing and swimming, and most important a chance to meet great people. This is truly an authentic boat experience managed by a family of fishermen who shows the best of life on the sea outside Catania.
