Catania: Boat Trip with Aperitif, Prosecco and Snorkeling

About This Experience
This sailing trip covers roughly five hours along the coast north of Catania, aboard one of two boats, the Emmanuel sailing ship or the Piper vessel, assigned depending on the size of your group on the day. A guide narrates the route throughout, with commentary offered in Italian, English, Spanish, French and Czech, making it one of the more accessible options for mixed-language groups travelling together from Catania.
From Blu Marina, the boat sails towards Ognina, where it stops for a short guided tour of around thirty minutes, then continues past the Ulysses Caves and on to Aci Castello, whose Norman castle sits on a cliff above the water. The guide covers the history and legends attached to each stop along the way, drawing on the mythology tied to this stretch of coast, before the boat continues on towards Aci Trezza.
At Aci Trezza, the boat moors for around 100 minutes so guests can go guided snorkelling in the clear water or try a stand-up paddleboard, with safety equipment provided throughout. Afterwards, a seated Sicilian aperitif with prosecco is served on board, a spread reviewers regularly single out as a highlight, before the roughly 45-minute sail back towards Ognina and on to Blu Marina to finish the trip.
The tour needs a minimum of four people to run, and a small skipper welcome fee is charged separately in cash rather than folded into the ticket price. It's built as a half-day outing that mixes coastal sightseeing, a guided swim and snorkel stop, and a seated meal, rather than a long full-day sail, which keeps the pace fairly brisk between stops.

This is the best possible use of your money! Manuel and Miguel (M&M) are two kind light hearted hosts who are happy to share stories and information as you sail. They are experts at figuring out how to make your trip special and they did exactly that for us. We boarded a trip with 5 random people from different corners of the world and left as friends with all of them completely because of how M&M got everyone interacting. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was fun, and I think this might just be the highlight of our entire trip. TLDR: You will get an authentic experience with a small team of local captains where you will snorkel, eat local food, and make friends.

The boat tour was a truly special experience we'll never forget! From the moment we stepped on board, we immediately felt welcome. We were told that the boat would be "our home" for the next few hours, and it really felt that way. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality and for sharing your stories during the journey. We'll definitely be back!

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do we meet for this tour?
At Blu Marina, Via Cardinale Dusmet, inside Catania's harbour, a short walk from the city centre. Look for the Blu Marina office or dock area rather than a generic port entrance, since the harbour has several operators working from different berths.
Is snorkelling gear included?
Yes, guided snorkelling with equipment is included during the roughly 100-minute stop at Aci Trezza, alongside the option to try a stand-up paddleboard instead if you'd rather stay on the surface. Safety equipment is provided throughout the trip as part of the standard package.
What if there aren't four people booked?
The operator states a minimum of four people is required for the tour to run, so on quieter dates it's worth checking your booking confirmation or contacting the operator directly if you're travelling in a smaller group, in case the date needs adjusting.
Is the aperitif a full meal?
It's described as a Sicilian aperitif served with prosecco, so it's a seated spread of snacks and drinks rather than a full sit-down lunch or dinner. Reviewers consistently mention the food as a highlight, served after the snorkelling stop at Aci Trezza.
Which boat will I be on?
Groups are placed on one of two vessels, the Emmanuel sailing ship or the Piper, depending on the size of your group on the day of travel. Both are used interchangeably by the operator, so which one you get isn't something you can request in advance.
